Metro Tunnel / Melbourne Museum Activation / 2021

Illustrating big infrastructure to inspire curious little learners

Overview

A Melbourne Museum school holiday activation was delivered to help young audiences understand how the Metro Tunnel is built beneath the city. The experience translated complex tunnelling concepts into an engaging, hands-on learning environment, generating strong participation, positive media coverage and curiosity around engineering and STEM careers.

My role

I illustrated a seven-metre walkthrough tunnel boring machine and worked closely with subject matter experts to simplify complex mechanics into a child-friendly visual language. Supported by interactive build activities, the illustration helped make large-scale infrastructure accessible, engaging and memorable for families.
